Beginning Spinning I
Discover the joy and beauty of making handspun yarn by learning to spin wool. This class is for those who want to learn all the basics of spinning fiber from sheep on the spinning wheel. The focus will be on understanding how to prepare fiber and use tools and equipment. After getting acquainted with the fiber and spinning wheel, you will need to practice. Spinning outside of class time will be encouraged. Please bring a spinning wheel and hard cards, if you have them, to the first session. Spinning wheels are available for use at the Guild and they may be taken home for the duration of the class for a $250 refundable damage deposit.

Beginning Spinning II
This class is the next step for beginners with emphasis on developing spinning techniques and increasing skills with a variety of fibers. Students will explore the various possibilities of wool, hair and fur fibers such as alpaca, angora rabbit and others, and silk. Various techniques, including spinning bulky and lace weight yarns, will be covered. Students will have completed Beginning Spinning I or be proficient in spinning singles and plying. Please bring your spinning wheel to the first session. Spinning wheels are available for use at the Guild and they may be taken home for the duration of the class for a $250 refundable damage deposit.

Design Your Own Yarn
Dreaming of gorgeous yarn? Learn to create beautiful wool yarn using hand-painting and immersion dyeing techniques. The focus of this class includes planning, plying, weight (worsted, sport, lace, thick and thin), blending, self-striping and variegating before dyeing your wool. Students will learn to prepare wool, choose a color palette, create color formulas, and then analyze the results and how to proceed with the spinning. Prerequisite: Dye It to Spin It suggested, but not required; proficiency with spinning singles and plying

NEW Into the Wild: Fiber Prep Techniques
So, you've learned to spin, you like all those pretty rovings, but you long for something more! Spice up your repertoire by preparing and blending fiber. This class leads students through multiple experiences and experiments to loosen up your approach to fiber and help you make yarn that is uniquely your own.

NEW Art Yarns You Can Spin
This is not your traditional spinning class! Students will explore designing, plying and blending handspun artistic yarns. The instructor will discuss traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques, as well as encourage students to explore spinning one-of-a-kind creations - bulky, slubby, loopy, or just plain funky yarns! Materials will be provided but you are free to bring anything that you think would be interesting or fun in a yarn. Think outside the box!
