Expanding Our Education Program

Continuing to build on the momentum of the Guild’s accomplishments and recognizing an opportunity for growth, the Weavers Guild seeks to hire an Education Director.  In partnership with the Board and Guild committees, a new Education Director will focus on the goal of improving and expanding the Guild’s education programs and will:

  • Develop strategies for an expanded educational program.  Outcome: activities and programs which further meet the diverse interests and needs of Guild members, future partners, and the outside community.
  • Define curriculum guidelines.  Outcome: consistency in student skill development and instructional standards.
  • Network with the larger fiber arts community.  Outcome: increased exposure and recognition as a national fiber arts school.
  • Develop coalitions with other institutions of learning.  Outcome: increased involvement with diverse communities.
  • Develop strategies for recruitment, training, mentoring, and evaluation of fiber arts instructors.Outcome: a diverse, knowledgeable, and experienced teaching staff.
  • Develop and carry out a marketing and advertising plan.  Outcome: increased membership and increased participation in educational offerings.  
  • Assist with grant writing.  Outcome: funding new initiatives and providing financial stability to the Guild’s education program.
An Education Director will play a vital role in ensuring the Guild can move into the future with a vibrant fiber arts program that continues the legacy of member commitment and dedication.

Accomplishing Our Goal

We have done our homework.  Through a carefully designed process we have:

  • held strategic planning sessions.
  • gathered information from our members.
  • initiated a needs assessment of the weaving community.
  • created a clear and manageable plan.
  • determined the qualifications and responsibilities of the position.

New possibilities encourage members to continue the hard work and ensure our goal of an expanded education program will be reached.

Finances/Budget

The ability to hire an Education Director is dependent on the successful benchmarks of a three year $250,000 fundraising campaign.

Director of Education:  $210,000
Consultants/New Initiatives:  $10,000
Equipment and Supplies:  $20,000
Fundraising Costs:  $10,000

Total Costs:  $250,000
Income
Individual Gifts:  $125,000
Foundations and Corporations:  $125,000

Total Income:  $250,000
