Frame Loom

Fine Threads on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Learn to use two rigid heddles on your loom to weave with finer threads. Weave a towel, table runner, napkins or scarf using yarns sett at 15, 18, 20 or 24 ends per inch. Students may use plain weave or learn simple lace structures using a pick up stick for some added texture. Depending on the project chosen, some students may need to do some weaving out of class. Yarns may be purchased at the Guild. Looms available to take home for the duration of the class for a $100 refundable damage deposit.

Color-and-Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Color-and-Weave uses dark and light threads to create a pattern effect that is more complex looking than the underlying plain weave structure. Students will explore various dark/light sequences in warp and weft to create a sampler on the rigid heddle loom. Students will learn to use two shuttles. Looms will be warped front to back for this project. Yarns may be purchased at the Guild. Looms available to take home for the duration of the class for a $100 refundable damage deposit.

Rigid Heddle Weaving
This portable loom can be used to weave yardage, table linens, wall hangings, and more! Students will plan a project, measure a warp, transfer it to the loom, and weave a sampler. Weaving techniques, patterns, and finishing ideas will also be presented. Students will prepare a second warp to weave a scarf and will be expected to weave between classes. Looms available to take home for the duration of the class for a $100 refundable damage deposit.

Rigid Heddle Frame Loom: Direct Method Warping
Ready, set, weave! Learn the basics of the rigid heddle loom and get going on scarves, table runners, shawls, pillow covers and more. The rigid heddle is portable so you can take your project with you anywhere. Students will learn a super-efficient warping technique, which means you can be weaving in a few hours. You will leave class ready to plan and create your own projects. Great for students who want to find out if weaving is for them. Also helpful for experienced rigid heddle weavers interested in learning a speedy warping alternative. Yarn for project may be purchased at the Guild. Looms available to take home for the duration of the class for a refundable damage deposit. Students are encouraged to purchase The Ashford Book of Rigid Heddle Weaving by Rowena Hart, available at the Guild.

NEW Beyond Plan Weave Rigid Heddle Weaving
Continue the fun and explore more handwoven creations!  This course introduces techniques in lace weaving, such as Bronson, and other pattern weaves that include pick up.  Each session includes a demonstration on a different structure.  Students are encourage to sample various effects using a pattern stick and pick up stick.  The instructor will review winding the warp and warping the rigid heddle, as well as guide you through the weaving process.  Students should expect to weave outside of class time between sessions.  Yarns may be purchased at the Guild.  Looms available to take home for the duration of the class for a $100 refundable damage deposit.

NEW Plan Your Own Rigid Heddle Project
Are you wanting to find a new rigid heddle project or interested in trying something different?  Students will designing, planning, and weaving a project of their own choice.  By setting up your own challenge and personal weaving goals, students can plan to use a specific yarn, try a new weaving pattern, or explore different finishing techniques.  Perhaps you’d like to try color-and-weave, weave cotton towels, or explore another weaving structure to create a scarf.  The instructor will guide you through the process and consult with you on how best to plan your project.  Yarns may be purchased at the Guild.  Looms available to take home for the duration of the class for a $100 refundable damage deposit.
